Korean Language Overview

Korean, the official language of both South and North Korea, boasts an alphabet called Hangeul, renowned for its simplicity. It was created in the 15th century, Hangeul consists of 14 basic consonants and 10 vowels, forming syllables in a subject-object-verb (SOV) word order. Korean grammar utilizes particles and verb endings to convey grammatical relationships. Additionally, the language employs different speech levels, reflecting levels of formality and politeness. Korean’s unique linguistic features contribute to its distinctiveness and are integral to its rich cultural identity.
